Shortly after I began working with Sprout’s video team as the department’s first Art Director, our team was tasked with developing a promo video hyping the 2019 launch of our yearly data report, the Index. We over-delivered by proposing three videos—a triptych of short scenes relatable to our audience of early-to-mid level Social Media professionals. Each short depicted how the Index could be a career-elevating resource, inspiring our protagonists to break out in dance.
We claimed empty corners of the office to stage three colorful sets that brought the aesthetic of the publication to life in physical space. Our video director, Kerri, cast our most charismatic colleagues as our talent. And with only a shoestring budget, we sourced furniture, set dressing, and wardrobe from around the office and our own closets.
The videos were a success, increasing brand awareness, and proved the value of integrating art direction and design into our video work.
